5-Star Resorts in Lombok: Where I've Stayed
Updated 23 Sept 2026
Lombok is the island directly east of Bali, with the same volcanic scenery and beaches and a fraction of the crowds. Its best-known 5-star resorts sit on the quiet north-west coast, looking across the water to the Gili Islands.
This page only lists resorts I’ve stayed at and paid for myself. Each one has a full review with photos, prices and a video tour. When I stay somewhere new in Lombok, it gets added here.
The Oberoi Beach Resort, Lombok
A 24-acre garden resort on Medana Bay, built in the style of a traditional Sasak village: low teak pavilions and thatched roofs spread across huge lawns and coconut palms. There are 50 rooms, 32 pavilions and 18 villas with their own walled gardens and pools.
I stayed in a Luxury Pavilion with a garden view, around 90 sqm including the balcony, for USD 232 a night booked on Expedia. The highlight of the room is the sunken marble bathtub beside a small private lily pond. Breakfast is à la carte at the Sunbird Cafe, with Indonesian, Indian and Western dishes. The staff struck a perfect balance between giving me space and being there whenever I needed something.
It’s about 1 hour 45 minutes by road from Lombok International Airport, and there’s also a fast boat from Bali.

The Sira, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa
A new, contemporary resort on Sire Beach, part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection. There are 60 rooms, 46 suites and 14 villas, set around one of the longest pools on the island, and on a clear day you can see Mount Agung in Bali across the strait.
I stayed in an Ocean View 1-Bedroom King Suite with Balcony, 94 sqm on a high floor, for USD 409 a night through Marriott STARS, which included breakfast for two and a USD 100 hotel credit. Breakfast at The Island’s Table was phenomenal. The resort is new, and the team was still finding its feet when I stayed.
It’s about 90 minutes by road from Lombok International Airport.

Before you book
Both resorts are a long drive from the airport, and there’s nothing outside either gate: no beach clubs, no shopping streets, no bars. They’re places you come to for the quiet, the sea and the view, and you eat where you stay. Neither has a kids club.
